Menopause - the Change of Life What is Menopause?

Menopause is the transition women make from being fertility to infertile.

This means periods stop.

It generally occurs between the ages of 45-55 years although some women go through it earlier and some later.

Other conditions and circumstances can induce menopause such as:

  • Surgical removal of your ovaries or uterus
  • Chemotherapy
  • Acute stress or trauma

Menopause is NOT A DISEASE!

It is a natural time (transition time ) in your life.

You are not broken and your body was designed to do it naturally.

Unfortunately many women in western societies suffer symptoms of hormone imbalance during this time, as discussed below.

You are not broken though, just need help with balancing your hormones. Measure them here.

Symptoms

For many women around the world menopause is a celebration of life. They transition nicely.

  • No periods or irregular periods
  • An elevate FSH on blood test
  • Saliva hormones may go up or down
  • A range of 34 symptoms can occur. They are listed in my best selling book on menopause but range from flushing, insomnia, weight gain, low sex drive, itchy skin to more!

Diagnosis

Menopause is technically 12 months since your last period.

Occasionally women will have a random period but then nothing

Blood test will show an elevated FSH

Saliva is not diagnostic BUT very helpful working out whether your body is making too much of a hormone (and needs it clearing out) or not enough of a hormone (and help making it).

Treatment

Remember this is a natural time in your body and you don't need "treatment" just hormone balancing.

This can be sufficiently achieved with healthier eating, exercising and using hormone balancing herbs.

I have more on this in my 8 week program here, or you can contact me about my menopause program that runs for 6 weeks at various intervals over the year.

If you want to measure your hormones (which I highly recommend) do so here.
