The Story behind Sam Beau Patrick & Why she got into Hormones
Through this blog (and my podcast), I aim to demystify the complex world of hormones and share the wisdom I've accumulated as a professional, a mother, and a woman who has navigated the ups and downs of health and wellness for decades.
From Tasmania to a Life Fueled by Passion for Health
A Turn Towards Holistic Health
One moment that really flipped the script for me was seeing how alternative therapies could literally give someone their life back.
When I was 18 years old and on my first ward rotation to oncology, I met a cancer patient who was pretty much told to get her affairs in order because she didn't have long.
But then, to everyone's surprise, she turned it all around with therapies that were off the mainstream radar.
It was like watching a miracle unfold. That hit me hard and made me think, "There's so much more to health than just pills and procedures."
It was a big nudge towards looking at health in a more rounded way, where what we eat, how we think, and the natural remedies we use all play a part.
Losing my mom when I was just a kid threw me into the deep end of life's uncertainties and the complex world of health care way too early. It was tough, I'm not going to lie.
And as I grew up, facing my own set of challenges, like trying to keep it together through the stress of life in Melbourne, dealing with burnout, and yes, battling a serious sweet tooth, I realized I needed to find a better way to live. Not just for me, but for anyone who's ever felt overwhelmed by it all.
Those personal battles, as hard as they were, showed me the power and importance of natural health practices. Trying to live a healthy life in a fast-paced, stress-filled environment, while also trying to dodge a growing sugar addiction, really put things into perspective. It made me see the importance of balance in health, and how crucial it is to take care of ourselves on all levels.

The Path to Hormone Health Advocacy
My journey to truly understand health took a significant turn when I faced my own hormonal imbalances. Diving into this issue not only broadened my understanding but also shed light on how crucial hormone health is to our overall well-being. The insights I gained, both through personal exploration and extensive research, led to the writing of several books. One notable work, "Beauty and the Beast Within," delves into the problem of elevated testosterone levels in women and explores its wide-ranging effects on health.
In my efforts, I strive to address and correct the myths that cloud women's health, particularly around menopause. I advocate for an approach that is both more informed and leans towards natural management methods for this life stage. My aim is to equip women with the knowledge and tools they need to take charge of their health, challenging the notion that they are somehow "broken" and in dire need of repair.
